Traveling Whistle Post car 5658 on AMRS trackage
Last night TrainNut brought the the Traveling Whistle Post Car no. 5658 down to the Arizona Model Railroading Society's layout for a trip on our trackage.
For the occation the railroad rolled out freshly shopped AT&SF 2-10-2 no. 3877 for use as motive power.
I was able to get these pictures as she worked easily through the Arizona desert.
After unloading at Arizona Feed mill its seen being uncoupled in the tucson yards near the coaling station for a well deserved rest.
Special thanks to TN seen inspecting our handiwork for the Az. reporting mark on the front corner of the car.

Glad to see it's still alive and kicking!
Gee, you'd think they had an honored guest or something, what with a single BIG steamer assigned to it and the cops parked next track over... (Maybe it IS a good idea the cops are watching that baby!! )
Hey GN, the AMRS layout looks to be a pretty decent setup. Tell us about it, if you would.
And...Last year in April I was out in AZ, bopping around PHX area, when I ran across an old SP 10 Wheeler in a park in Mesa. Do you guys have any info on that loco?? Just hoping a local might know...

The park queen is SP No.2355 a class T31 4-6-0 have'nt found any pictures of'er online yet still snooping.
As for our layout its a work in progress of course but we like to think its coming right along. Its fully DCC 80x20 in a H shape allowing easy access for operations and maintence, when finished shoud acommodate up to 15 engineers at one time ,, mainline trackage ? ALOT! honestly not sure! must be maybe 400 feet x three main's.
Our railroad park sits on 160 acres of county land which we have a renewable20yr lease.
outside our front door is a 100 X 30 ft covered area for our two annual swapmeets which helps our treasury immensly Just beyond that lies our 100X100 G scale railroad 90% radio control....... And way beyond that is the Saguro Central Railway preservation museum. SC is the umbrella under which we all operate. they are the true lease holders for the park.
Gee almost forgot the coolest club of all.
If you go out the backdoor and across the driveway you step on to the domain of the Maricopa Live Steamers and their 14-16 miles, yep i said miles' of 7 1/2 inch gauge track. Live steam ups twice a year Spring'n'Fall draw folks from as far away as Col. and Wyoming for a week of bliss smelling hot oil and coal smoke.

Dang, I'm living in the wrong place....
Gee, thanks GN!! Sounds like WAY LOTS of fun for kids of all gauges! Trains, Trains, and more Trains! That and the wonderful Winters and Spring and Fall- Just gotta get past Summer...
Yeah, that SP loco sure has been something I haven't forgotten. Thanks for the Type info. I went out with the fam to see some places, and to visit some friends in Gilbert. We got to go boating at a reservoir East of the City, and then to some hole in the wall place out by Tortilla Flats where we bought our Sarsparillas. Talk about the Old West...Too bad I wasn't aware of the Club, I would've crashed the party!!

Yes some of the bigger steamers are impressive, but we have the 4 spot' A little Porter 0-4-0 that once upon a time had a trailing truck thereby making it a bit of a oddity .....not that many were built compared to the first wheel arrangement. She even had a name it seems at one time 'La Nena'
Anyways we really love having her sitting out in front of the Museum announcing to everyone who drives by that there are TRAINS in these parts
