Sometimes I get the nod to head off to our company HQ in Harrisburg, PA. I get to see a lot of the wonderful countryside, along with a few other sights as well. I brought along the camera, and took a few pics, and thought I would share them with you.
We start out with a string of Coil Cars that have been sitting on a siding on an old PRR line for the last few months. I find it amazing that for one type of car, that there can be so many variations. Take a look:
And coming from the other direction:
Then there's an industrial area that is the home of an old EMD switcher, along with some boxcars. Today, though, the place was slammed with tankers.
Further out, there's lots of manufacturing. Here's a couple shots of a cement truck builder.
And the state is home to lots of farms...
Here's my favorite one along the road, it's got a fieldstone house, and the layout is worthy of any modeler.
There's a bunch of other interesting things to see, like a couple quarries, and a prefabricated concrete plant that makes giant concrete parts for buildings, bridges and whatnot. (The trees, the speed, and the lighting were tough today..) But I did mange to stop on the road and catch this pic along the PA side of the Delaware River...What is it????
And I know I'm a little under an hour away from home when I see this sign...
Well, thanks for tagging along, and hopefully I can get some more shots to share in the future! PA has lots to see, and the place is just lousy with trains...

Yepper! It sure is amazing what you'll find here. Just the other day I saw a Norfolk Southern Coal Train with an NS-CR-NS (1 conrail sandwiched between to norfolk southerns ) It was amazing. They obviously haven't changed over all of the conrail paint schemes yet. I think that they were Dash-8s to . Don't take my word for it though.

Brian there are alot of Conrail units still not painted in NS Paint. I live very close to the old PRR Pittsburgh Division and you can see alot of Conrail units. They are slowly disappearing though. There is not a day that goes by that I don't see a conrail unit.

Well, Domiluk, you get a ticket as you climb onto the Greenstamp, and then they whack you on the way out. Both the Jersey, and the PA Pike work it like that. If I sold my house and moved out of the state, I would get hit with an "exit tax" too.!! Most of the pics were taken on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Grampy's, I'm glad to know I didn't wear out my welcome!
I'm gonna have to make it up to Portage sometime, LiveSteamer!!
I shot the pictures because I knew they had some value for modeling, and a lot of folks haven't seen how pretty a state Pennsylvania is, along with all the cool industry and the RR's there. I'm glad I could help with the ideas, and get to visit a place where a lot of our membership on the site resides!!
So...what is that picture I took of the RR tracks and the tower??
