Thumbs up The Ocean County Society of Model RR'ers

Well, just a little over a week ago, I took my two youngest children and stopped by the old RR Club to see what's new, and to show the kiddies some railroading. The OCSMRR index.html is a multi-gauge Club that resides in the basement of a Rectory Building at a local Church in Lakewood, NJ, and they meet twice a week. They have two permanent layouts, three rail O, and HO. I took a bunch of pics, so come along as we visit this club and see what ideas they have to offer!

In case we don't know where we are, here it is! A certain Moderator on a WAY COOL website was once a member here and made this sign for these guys, which still stands!

We're going to start out with the HO side of things, some out of scale persons are messing up the scene!

An interesting station, I'm not sure if it's complete yet.

Here's a pretty cool station scene. The layout has double-tracked main line, and runs off a Lenz Decoder System, so they use cordless phones to run the trains

Note the Mickey-D's in the building. This bunch must LOVE the Golden Arches, as I counted THREE on club layouts!

Here's the other end of the layout, looping back..

Interesting loco collection...I liked the service area, and the transformer station. Oh, and the Pennsy engine!

Here's a rare one for you- a subway train

A couple teakettles waiting their turn to head into the Station.

In a scene reminiscent of the PRR's "Boulevard of Steel" we catch a steamer cruising through

And a local station is seeing some passenger equipment coming through!

Steamer highballing with a run from the Steel Plant.

They use a combination of plexiglass and 440 volt AC to keep the kids away from the trains...

They have a warehouse with a fully detailed interior as well. Full lighting inside and out.

And we'll get off at this stop, a scratchbuilt bi-level station. We'll be back for more!

Mike,
Great shots. There has been major improvements since I was VP of that group. I haven't visited in years. I guess I will have to go back and visit.

Cool Fun place to visit.

Yes, the OCSMRR is a fun little group of model RR'ers, for sure. They really make do with the room they have. Well, here are some more pics, as I mentioned, there are some good ideas here, so come along!

Lots of trains were running, here's one going past a station.

They had a pretty nice B&O lashup drag racing the steamers...

Here's some ideas on backdrop scenery, and those old cars that just don't fit...

Train shows make for strange bedfellows. You never know what you're going to see running together, especially in the engine yards

Here's an interesting cardstock building

The Central Jersey Bridge Line is the home road, and here is one of the engines...

There's also a turntable, and some other interesting features in the engine areas

Here's a nearby fuel company

Someone has trains on their mind...

And we'll end this segment with a neat bridge, and four tracks heading every which way. I have just a few more of the HO stuff, and then we'll jump over to the three rail stuff, where in this club happens to be King. Till then!!
