Another reason why I love Bowser!
For those of you who aren't familiar with Bowser, they're a company in Pennsylvania, and as most of you know, model RR companies in PA invariably sell a ton of Pennsylvania RR stuff. Being no exception to having been influenced by the Standard RR of the World, I found that Bowser makes terrific Cabooses! Here's a pic of the latest addition to the RR here:
Class N-8 Cabin Car. Very nice, but not the subject of this thread. If you notice, take a look at the box it came in (USA made- awesome) beside that, look at the boxtop. CLEAR PLASTIC (or some derivative of it)
So I had an older Athearn Lightweight Passenger car the windows weren't all there in the kit. (An outrage !! ) Not really, because my Bowser box came to the rescue, as I trimmed some strips out of the boxtop, and glued them into the passenger car:
I think I almost liked this technique better than using the thick plastic Athearn molded windows that sometimes fight all the way in, and you wind up using regular hand tools getting the @#$%^&* things in!
So here's the results:
If you look closely at the car, you can notice the difference. Personally I think it's better, but then I'm having to start considering interiors!
Oh, and if anyone from Bowser comes through here, I have to say, "Thanks for a great product, and a great box, too!!
Any of you get "Creative" usage out of things that would probably hit the bin?? Share them if you would!

Not to mention the cars you have to put together are easy to build, plus now they are coming out with ready to run cars. The detail on the bowser cars are really good also.

Plus, Bowser maks RoadRailers, which are great for people who love to see odd stuff on the rails.

Early in my model railroading (50 years) Bowser made some of the worst looking steam engines around. Of course in those days if you wanted to go real prototypical you had to spring for brass. It looks like they've improved.

With time, if they're still around, they must be better...
Abutt, I hear you on the locos. Honestly, I haven't had much to do with them, but their rolling stock is pretty good. I have heard in former times their locos were a 'rhoid when it came to all of the detailing, and you had to have a detailing kit to make them look right. On the other hand, their power trains seem to be decent. You just don't find them around like an Athearn or a Bachmann or an Atlas. Interesting company to say the least. Another fun one is Stewart, but that's another story.

Thanks much, Matt
Appreciate the attaboy! I did something different with this Cabin Car, I colored in the body windows with a black paint pen. (I was never able to see inside the cabooses anyway... ) I haven't as yet started doing interiors on my cars, other than the freight loads, so hiding the weight inside seemed a better idea at the time... Yes, I like their caboose designs and detail, here's a pic of a few of them in varying models being pulled in a Caboose Hop:
