Even after much forethought and careful planning, I still ended up with a corner on my layout that was nearly impossible to reach comfortably. I had to paint the benchwork there standing on a chair, one hand on the wall, and a 12" paintbrush in the other hand! Though it's probably not a new idea, it occurred to me that if I cut a piece of foam the size of the area I wanted to scenic, I could do it comfortably at the kitchen table and then (with one hand ) install the finished scene on the layout. The pictures tell the story.
Perfect! I like that house as it has a basement and can be challenging to fit in place and have it look right.

That looks great in there! My problem is making something like that and actually making it FIT! Here's what I did in a corner of my layout:
I took a dead engine, and put in a crossover that the rails come close to the operating track, but I didn't connect them. So it looks like a local waiting in the hole.

Steve, after seeing some of your work, I take that compliment seriously. Do you have anything made up in one of your corners?

I have a friend who used parts of shower stall from Home Depot to cove the corners of his layout room. I believe he attached it with screws and spackled over the edges to blend them in to the wall. after painting and cluds you don't see the 90 degree corner of the room pretty good idea. I think I'll just hide the corner with a mountain and a lot of trees
