National Train Day is on May 10th Get your Choo Choo on
National Train day is this coming Saturday May 10th ok railfans do we know why? No Google cheats either, On May 10, 1869, in Promontory Summit, Utah, the “golden spike” was driven into the final tie that joined 1,776 miles of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railways, ceremonially creating the nation’s first transcontinental railroad. And America was transformed. Bu then we all knew that didn't we.........lol Well it seems interesting and railoraidng weather it be big or small never really gets any press these days.
Clcik on the for kids section,"If your youngster lights up at the sound of a train, eyes gleaming with fascination at its power and speed, then you’ve learned a virtually universal truth. Kids love trains. They love to build model trains, watch videos of trains, learn about trains in museums and, of course, ride trains.
Sound like anyone we know?

What? Another Holiday?? OKAY!!
Well, wouldn't it be cool if the RR's had a big old holiday for the event, especially that Ugly Pacific outfit! So, I liked CP's idea lots. Here's a lucky shot our photographer made as a Pennsylvania speedster flew by with it's cargo:

Happy National Train day
1st one is a moment on the Southern Interior. here the fuel area is filling up with a few CP engines (Embrace the uglyness)
3 Tuscan GP's are in the sideing, makeing way for the SD40-2 as the AC4400 get a fill,a GP38 & 40 are comeing off the CN conector for the big shot.
Also I model in "N" scale as well a small 30" X 50" double main that I use at train shows and local displays,on this day TH&B are busy on both tracks.
Happy Train day all..... A National holiday here on the SI&C MRR.

Yes! A National Holiday on the PHCRR! Can I still run my trains??
Brian- Not having a layout seems like a great time to consider making a diorama to get "warmed up" for the real thing! (Maybe you can call a TWP member nearby for help... )
Matt- Thanks again. I have a rear headlight for this engine now, it's a matter of finding the right size marker lenses, it's just not easy after two states and a half dozen shops!! After the additions, then this baby will see some light weathering (after I see what Howard Zane does to Brian's (Allegany 2666) tea kettles!)
Hey TD- what time does the party start at your house?? Or is it at Trainmans??

Well Mike I might be making the pilgramage to Meca or inour case Maryland next week. I know all the flap about gas being so high and all that but a trip back to West Virginia in 1957, with the New Southern Cowtippers playing on the record machine is a good way to clear the cobwebs out and get a little destressed from all that has been going on. I get de-stressed and my locomotives get weathered. Sounds like a good deal.
