Hi,and welcome to the Projects Forum. This is where you post progress reports on your loco, rolling stock, vehicle, plastic building kit projects.
Wooden Craftsman projects are one forum up.
I thought I would get things started with this.
This is the frontwall of a Model Power movie theature ,post office ,hardware, etc.his the only part of the kit I am using cause I can't find the rest of it.(actually it got destroyed this is all that is left)
Now it it's origonal form it really isn't big enough for any of the jobs that MP decorates it for so the first thing will be to enlarge it.That will get started in the next installment.
Warning-this may be a long project so don't expect to see it finished by next Friday.

First pic is of the ugly backside of the front shown in the first thread.
This shows the hefty styrene square stock used to reinforce the corners and give plenty of room for glue.I don't at the moment remember what size it is as it is out of my scraps drawer.
Second pic is of the Evergreen siding I will use for the side walls.I had decided to make the building 80' long and guess what this stuff is exactly that. So two cuts and I will have both sidewalls cut.
Next pic is of the basic tools in every scratchbuilders/kitbashers tool kit.One is a scale rule and the other is an Exacto knife with a #11 blade.
Stay tuned for part III coming to a web forum close to you

Ok,taking up sort of where we left off here are some more project pics.First pic is of one completed sidewall missing only the personnel door.
This shot shows the interior bracing for the above wall. The bracing is made from scrap pieces of plastic from my scraps box.
This pic shows the other pieces used tp make the side walls. The top piece is scrap from the scrap box once again while the lower piece which is the visable foundation of the building is one strip from some Evergreen V groove siding with a .125" spacing of the grooves.
Well, that's it for this year,Cya next year .

This is one of the handiest tools I ever bought for my kitbash/scratchbuilding arsenal. They are called niblers and their origonal use was for making mounting holes in electronics panels.Well they are also extremely helpful for making window and door openings in plastic kit panels.and sheet styrene.
I bought these so long ago from Radio Shack that they were less than $5.00.Today they are close to twice that and still worth the money.
I am thinking of starting a thread in this forum on "Tools of the trade" just to let people know what I use and to find out what they use.Any thoughts on that?

Well...I might be late to the parade, but count me in about seeing a "tool thread." I reckon it's a good idea to see what other guys have and use in their model works to solve problems and create decent models. I know Andy has a complete machinist's tool shop at home and the rest of us can only drool like fools about that, although...I have a granite surface plate gonna show up any day now!!!
OK..so it's not a reg'lar granite surface plate like a machinist would have...it's only a granite cutting block, but it'll serve the same purpose--a large, flat, non-reactive surface for model building.
So, don't mind me..get to posting yer tool sets, folks!
