Cool January 2009 Photo Of The Month Contest - Loco/Diesel Servicing and Storage Scene

January 2009 Photo Contest!!!
Best Locomotive/Diesel Servicing and/or Storage Scene!!

First lets go over some rules.

1. The prize: The winning photo will be featured on the front page of the forum for the month following the contest. You get bragging rights!!

2. Each month will have a theme (Thanks TrainNut for that suggestion). The submitted photo should follow that theme.

3. Only ONE photo per month per person can be submitted, so make sure the one you submit is the one you want everyone to vote on. Having multiple submissions per person just makes voting difficult, so lets keep it simple.

4. At the end of the monthly contest, I will post a poll that will be open for 7 days in which everyone can vote for their favorite photo. The person with the most votes wins. In case of a tie, I will pick the winner. Depending on the number of entries, I may have to narrow down the choices in the poll.

5. Everyone is eligible.

6. This is supposed to be fun! Who knows, maybe we'll make a calender of the winning photos or something for the next year.. who knows!

7. Photos must be submitted on the monthly photo of the month thread (i.e. April 2007 Photo of the Month thread) started by me (TallDude)

8. The picture MUST be taken by the person submitting the picture. Please also include a short description if the scene. We do not want copyright issues etc.

9. Adding/Removing of features (sky, smoke, etc.) via Photoshop or other graphic program, is not allowed. Everything in the photo must exist in the scene being photographed. (Added 12/14/07)

10. Rules are subject to change if they need to be.

Ok.. now that we have the rules out of the way... onto the photo contest!!

January's theme: Best Locomotive/Diesel Servicing and/or Storage Scene on your layout!!!!
Heres a few suggestions for this month: Servicing area, roundhouse, engine shed, photo of people working on the locomotive or diesel, favorite engine sitting in the yard, etc. Submit a photo of your favorite scene on your layout! The winner gets bragging rights and will win a spot on the front page of the site for a month!

Note: If you previously entered the photo contest, please submit a different photo for this contest.

Contest End Date: January 30th 2009 11:59:59 PM Eastern

Lets see those photos!! Reply below with your best scene!

Before we start posting photos this month, I would like to remind everyone of this rule:

9. Adding/Removing of features (sky, smoke, etc.) via Photoshop or other graphic program, is not allowed. Everything in the photo must exist in the scene being photographed. (Added 12/14/07).

The idea of the photo contest is that we want to see your modeling skills, not your photoshoping skills. Not everyone has access to Photoshop or graphics programs, and some don't have a lot of experience using them. We want to try to keep the contest fair for everyone and fun. While adding smoke, sky, etc make great photos, it does give an unfair advantage to some who don't know these tricks. I've let it slide a few times this year, but lets try to keep it fair and fun for everyone.

It's a rare occurance, indeed, when a diesel stops at the yard at Rigby Junction for service. We do have a couple tanks for diesel fuel but, the bulk of the work/maintenance done here is on steamers. Here's a birds-eye view of the service facilities.
