Great weathering....can you briefly describe your method?

I wish that I could help, but both of the weathered cars were a gift from a much better modeler than I. I haven't gotten around to weathering any rolling stock yet .

It looks like....
The weathering on those boxcars is pretty good. I would probably bet they were done first with some washes, then followed up with a heavy dose of chalk and whatever was used to stick it on there. Definitely worth a try to do! I just happen to have gotten a boxcar I was wondering how to weather, these are in the color range too!....Thanks Steve!! Stay tuned!!

Mike....one thing I do know, he never uses chalk. But he does use washes. He really rusted these up because I asked him to, but usually his work is more subtle. He has a tutorial on a different forum (I don't know if it would be appropriate to link it here) I will PM the links if you want them.
He dosen't set himself up to be an expert and He would be the first to say....the way he does it is ONE WAY, there are many others and pick what's right for you

Steve, check your PM's
Interesting, for sure, NOT using chalks would be a trick! I have a hard time believing it's just washes though. I guess we'll see how the boxcar turns out and see how close we get!

C'mon now, throw a pic on here!!
Well, I figured I'd toss another pic on here so's the thread wouldn't get lost, and it would give everyone another chance to add something we haven't seen! Love Shawn's pics, and we've had quite the variety this week!
Here's a shot of Matt's Frozen Foods, looks like the yard is slammed for them. Hope they can get some decent help to get those babies unloaded, and the cold stuff out of there!

Labor Day Sunshine and On30 Mini layout
Hi,
It was beautiful and sunny here in Tennessee on Labor Day.
For a few months I have been building an On30 Mini Layout based on a 1920's sugar cane train in Haiti. One of the nice things you can do with a "mini" is take it outside for pictures and really pop the colors. I hope you all like these shots.
Peace, Doctor G

Hi
Glad you all liked the pics. The layout is 29"X 45".
Speaking of pics I tried to size them according to the specs provided on the site but was puzzled as to why they uploaded as a "link" rather than the actual photo????? Is it because ! tried to attach 4 photos with the message???
Thanks Dr G
