Thanks thogan, He really does need to back up a little bit in case that car does tip all the way....but then he wouldnt be able to see the fireman in the cab of the switcher just beyond the water tower....oh and this conductor is as tough as Shack was in Emperor of the North Pole...actually he may be a little worse.

Unfortunately, these things happen...
What we have here is a mixed freight on a secondary line being led by a trio of F7's (ABA). The engineer was trying to make up time and took the corner too fast. The lead engine jumped the rails to the right forcing the B unit to uncouple and plow off left. The rest of the train stacked up behind like dominoes. Because the lead engine remained upright, the two guys in the front cab rode it out and were able to climb down with only minor cuts and bruises.

Nice pics Shawn and TN! In light of the recent additions to this month's contest pics, the Academy has met again to award the following
Shawn- Best Stop Action Sequence- Where a heroic? flagman's last act on earth before he got ground into powder was to wave the train down....
TN- Best Submarine-Train Action Flick, otherwise known as the "Journey To The Center Of The Earth - The Hard Way"
Best of Luck to Everyone as we come down to the final stretch!!

I got my inspiration for that one from the real thing. Years ago, (18-20) we had a freight come through Flagstaff, AZ. Something happened, I don't recall, but the first and second unit jumped the tracks and did just that... headed for the center of the earth. From what I can remember, the head end of the first unit plowed completely under.

TrainNut,
Thats has got to be the most realistic looking model railroad wreck I have ever seen, I bet the crew needed a change of drawers after a ride like that...I know I would

As I have shown, you don't need a complete operating layout to participate. Try just a couple of pieces of foam, some stuff out of an old box and some scenic supplies. Tada! - instant contest entry. All of the stuff I used for this entry was stuff I had laying around not being used.

Twenty- TN's Right
While you're looking at trying to put the big project together, by making dioramas you get to hone your skills for later on, and you get a change of pace from the construction work.
This is also a good time to work on your rolling stock as well, so you have a head start when you finally get to put them on the "Home Rails"!
Variety is the spice of life....and model railroading!!
