Terminal Diamond

Here a New Haven Streamlined Passenger Train crosses over Terminal Diamond, as a U-Boat awaits clearance to cross over to go to work.

It must be Summer or something....

Yes folks, it's a case of CPR for the thread! (Cool Pullman's Running)

Now I know the nice warm weather outside and the girlie girls have you all distracted, but I, for one, would like to see your pics!! How about it?

Okay, here's another shot of the NH Passenger bouncing over Terminal Diamond taken from the other end of Michell Yard!

There's no Pros here, so toss a pic on, and let's all gawk at it together!

Oh, and watch out for the Grade Crossings while you're all distracted out there!

N scale time

Hi all, just a quick pic of my "other" layout I have in my Office,my N scale "Whisky River" which is 50" X 31" has a double main with a bypass and a industrial switching spur.

A 40 ton PGE switcher pushes a cut of Boxcars into "Midway Trucking" to be unloaded and picked up tomorrow.

This is a small Kato drive Kit bash switcher ( I got it at a show from the builder) Runs well but is kinda light.

Lightbulb Try all the features on it!

I found on my camera there are a bunch of different settings, but I prefer to use the "closeup" setting with no flash. The flash always washes out the colors, and it ruins the realistic effect I'm trying to get. If all your shots look like "dawn" or "dusk" that's okay as you learn the ropes with the picture taking thingy ma bob! (your camera)

Don't just go to the "automatic" setting, get right up to your subject, just make sure you have the ambient lighting to keep the shot from being too dark. If you can't seem to get enough light onto the subject, try the manual settings to keep the "shutter" open longer to let in more light. If you're holding the camera, then set it against something while you do it so your pictures don't come out blurred.

On the pic I got on the front page of this site last month, I turned off the fluorescent lighting in the room and used a 300 watt halogen work light and bounced it off the ceiling so I could get a warmer color and have it look like it came from above.

These are just a few little things I've picked up over time that seem to work for me. If you keep trying, the quality of your pictures will begin to catch up with your RR modeling skills. Then you'll be kicking all of our butts on the monthly photo shoot!!

Good Points Mike, Also remember when you are getting a real close up shot use the MACRO (looks like a flower) setting and use no flash this setting automatically gathers extra light, also put the camera on the Timer (Self Timer) this will remove any shake that comes form your hand, also the + sign in the center of your finder is the spot that the camera will focus on,so if you have that + sign on the ground in front of the subject you want to shoot thats were the ultimate focus will be,take more that one shot, sometimes I will take 5-10 shots of the same thing useing diffrent settings until I find the right one, also on your digital when you are looking at the shots you have taken Pan in on the shot if you can pan in and read the Numbers on the Box car or Engine then you know it's clear. Anyhow Good shots Dom keep working at it, love the control panel in the last shot looks good.

Don'y worry about it to much Dom, I have had mine for a few years and still can't get a decent picture from it. But then I am a modeler not a photographer.
