Need some help with a table for my son's O gage
Santa bought my 5 year old his first tran set this Christmas, a Lionel NY Limited. He absolutley love it and we ahve to play trains every day when he comes home from school. This way he stays away from Dad's HO stuff, well kind of. So needless to say the Ponderosa here isn't actly as spaceous as we would liek with toys as far as the ey can see. I am trying to come up with a folding table idea for his Lionel's. Maybe folding down the center so we can store it behind the couch or under it when not in use. Any idea's are grealy appreciated.
Thanks

another angle, perhaps...
I had a neighbor who had a load of Lionel trains in his garage. What he did was to put sides around the plywood holding the track, then he put a set of pulleys on it and he would hang it from the ceiling. Then he'd lower it down when he wanted to play. I've also seen old ping pong tables used, since they break in the middle like you're asking about.

right like a ping pong table but picture the break going length wise. I guess I'll just get a 4x8 sheet of 3/8 ply and rip it and hindge it. It has to be something my wife can slode under the couch and be able to open and close it realtively easy.

Here's another idea-
When i was a kid, my dad built me a figure eight layout with the Lionel trains, and what he did was make it small enough to fit under my bed. Then he put caster wheels on it, so my five year old self could slide it under!

I see Mike got here before me!!
I was going to suggest the rolling under the bed layout. I have seen them and they do work great in a small space, and like Mike said the kids can just about move it themselves.

Normally I would agree and it would have been done BUT my little guy has one of these Race Car beds that go right to the floor so thats out. The casters are a good idea I wanted to do something like an old Murphy Bed but I just got that look (you know the one) from my wife. I might just have to send her some place far enough away that I can get it done before she gets home Nah I still have to live with her at least until I have heat and a/c out in the garage.
Thanks for the ides
