How tall are trees??

TN, as far as I've seen, trees come in all lengths and varieties. Most are in the three to four story range, so figure thirty to forty feet high. Use a forty foot RR car as a reference, and mix and match, no one will question it. Even if you made them higher, say it's a grove of that particular kind of tree! Hey, now you can be a horticulturalist!!

Look at any pics of wooded areas, and there's always a variety of species, and heights and colors.

Where is it you are modeling, and what grows there??? GOOD LUCK!!

Hey TM
Rule of thumb for any scale is stand a 40' box car on it's end and make your highest just a shade above it,that will give you the right look threw out the layout. But not over power it with way to high of trees

These trees are 3.25 inches tall. If you put smaller ones in front, it helps hide the big long gangly limbs and helps with the perspective. All my other trees range anywhere from 1 to 2.5 inches tall.

It all depends on what your modeling. I do Old growth 1920 west coast logging and trees even in N scale are tall. In fact I have plans for a fire lookout station that was built in 1920 something that was on top a topped fir at 170 feet or 12 1/4 inches in N . No, my trees will not be that tall more like 7 or eight but they will still be up there. The average fir they are cutting now for second growth is around 100 foot and about 3-4 ft thick at the base. So 7.5 inches tall and 5/16th inch in diameter. The photo is of a kit I made of the look out station and build my a buddy in Ho scale I also have it done in N but they are not on my site .

Not really was tied off to 3 stumps, but the climb up on the 1"dia. nail stairs
