Coffe table layout of a different sort.

This is actually the second type of a coffee table layout I have done. I tried to sell it for the longest time at $750 with no response. Finally I got tired of it sitting in my garage and donated it to my local club. They sold it shortly after for $400. Let me tell ya', that person got a good deal because I had more than that into the table in just supplies. Well, have a look!

Gotta start somewhere.

How about some track?

The town is starting to take shape.

Here, I've put some real rocks in, gotten the roads layed out and am ready for some painting!

And a little closeup before the bridges were built.

Since I have maxed out my quota for uploaded pictures for today, I will have to post the other 5 tomorrow.

As trainman just said, the limit for the Gallery is 50 per day (it was 20) and then you should be able to include in the thread as you have here. If it says you hit a limit, please paste the message here in the thread or PM me and I'll figure it out and increase/remove the limit.

The gallery proimpts you for several at a time, but you should be able to do that multiple times.

I'm really enjoying these pics! Its amazing how much you manage to fit into a small coffee table.

Thanks for sharing!

Doh! Okay, my goof. I thought I read somewhere on here that I was only allowed to upload 10 per day. Sooo then on we go!
How about an after shot of the one above 'cept with a little scenery. I built those bridges one piece at a time in place.

I spent quite a bit of time preparing these buildings for lights so that the whole building did not glow when the lights came on. I was fairly succesful with all of them except that two story courthouse jobber there. It still glows a little bit but nothing like it did before I started.

Now, you've got an overall shot without the glass on the table. That blue thing towards the middle right was my attempt at a little city park pond with some rock features around it. I added one drop of blue food coloring to an entire bottle of Woodland Scenics water and it still came out that bright. All of the rocks in this table are real and came from Sedona, AZ. Also, Woodland Scenics had not come out with their instant trees yet when I built this one and so I used lichen to the best of my abilities.

And another overall shot from a different direction. I had to get the highway out of the table somehow so I made it disappear into a tunnel to nowhere!

And finally, a picture of the finished project.

The glass looks frosted, but it's not. It is much clearer in person. There is 1/2" sub space underneath that I built in to contain all the wiring for future trouble shooting if any may occur (light bulb replacement). The transformer is velcroed to the bottom of the layout so as to be out of sight but easily accessible if you know where to reach.

Hmmm...cool conversation piece and I like the lighted buildings fersure. But, a 2 foot double circle would have my head swimming right now, I mean to tell ya!

"'Round and around it goes, and where it stops, nobody knows!"

Nice work! It's also further proof that you can fit a fun little layout just about anywhere!
