MOW Equipment!!

After taking the pictuires for the June Contest, I thought I would share a little more of what I did to take the pic! I would like to see a continuing thread on Maintenance of Way equipment, seeing we have the Locomotive and the Freight Car of the Week threads. (great stuff!!) So, I hope some of you would like to toss a few pics up (use the one's you WON'T use for the contest, okay??) Here we go, a series of pics of the scene I made from different angles:

I found that if I switch the camera to manual, it wouldn't pick up the light, so we're working at Dusk:

It was a toss up between this picture and the one I submitted for the Contest.

And one more pic, a helicopter view of the scene:

I use a Kodak Digital DX6340 I bought a few years ago at Radio Shack, and since hooking up with the site, it's been an adventure trying to get better pictures, and setting up the scenes. What a blast!! It's another part of the hobby I'm getting to learn and do more with.

Cool Okay, let's add some more to this thread!

You got a chance to see the Burro Crane in the earlier pics. It's a Walthers piece offered a few years ago that's motorized and can actually pull a couple cars. It doesn't like turnouts much because of it's short wheelbase, and only one axle on each truck is powered, with a gear in the middle of the powered axle. Interesting setup. When I got it, I was pretty excited, but most of us know, there is no vocabulary used like "Pretty" and "Clean" with MOW equipment. So I weathered it using chalks and Dull-cote, I put a figure in the cab, and added MV Products lenses for the "headlights" and the rear marker lights. The crane and "cables" are operated manually with hidden screws in the body of the crane. She's a noisy little thing, but it's a great conversation piece! Here's a series of pics I took of it to show you folks!

Here it is with it's assigned flatcar on the job:

Our photographer set up near the branchline running up Quarry Mountain, and he caught the crane on it's own climbing on up to Farmingdale:

He caught a close up as it puttered on by:

And he got a good rear pic as well:

So here the Crane made it to it's destination, the Engine Servicing Facility in Farmingdale:

Hope you liked them, drop a couple pics of your yellow or gray equipment on here too!!
