Hi guys, Just thought I would let you know about my railroad. It's freelanced and to take care of the fact that I have a hodgepodge of equipment it is tourist slash freight railroad. It isn't based in any paticular time period (at least Not yet), or any particular area (loosely based in western Pennsylvania). It's pretty small, it's in a 10x10 room. It's done in modules so I can add on as room and budget allows.each module is 24 inches by 4ft. At the moment it consists of one small town and a tourist trap section. It will have a lot of country scenes for the tourist railroad. I have a lot of small cabins. to save money I built the cabins with layered posterboard. I make the basic structures out of the posterboard cut to shape, then cut individual boards out of posterboard and glue on. I also make log cabins out of wood kitchen matches. The large matchens scale out to about 9 scale inches. I make porch posts out of the small wood matches, they scale out to about 6 scale inches. When I get a way to post the pictures I will.

Sounds like a nice layout, spider, and by doing it in modules its easy to add on and move it if you have to. I love the idea of the tourist trap section. Look forward to seeing some photos of it when you get a chance.

tourist trap
The tourist trap consist of a few log tourist cabins, a general store, and a diner. I have a service station to add to it and I'm thinking about building a pottery shop and an antique shop.

Here's a few ideas...
Have some oddity in the middle of the thing "The World's Largest Turnip" or something like that, with a bunch of people taking pictures of it. At the service station, have a wrecker pulling in a car with NY License plates and a bunch of moping people with it!
