Service Area.

Hey guys. I was thinking about a service area for the Ho scale when i start building it again. Ok what all does a service area have. Do i need a pit in the ground under the tracks. Someone give me some ideas on what all is in a service area.

Are we talking strictly diesel or steam, or both?

Hey TM,
For a diesel service area you could have a engine house, the pit is under the track in it, a fueling station, sanding tower, some facilities had wash racks to wash the engines, a service office and a bunch of different looking sheds to keep all the junk in. Did I miss anything guy's??

Yep, Rip Track is good
Lets see, you could have a sanding tower, someplace to refuel the locos. Ok, how bout the servicing building, then a couple sheds is a good idea, office, maybe somewhere to store the locos like a engine shed if not in the servicing facility. I'll have to think some more

RIP = Repair In Place. Just a track where minor repairs can be done.

It took me a long time to understand that abbreviation...
