Wm K Walthers service

Hey guys just to let you know. I had a new in the box proto GP 30 that was a older make unit. Frist time i ran it the front truck locked up on it. found a split gear on the front axle. I e-mailed walthers about this and they are sending me a new set of wheels free of charge..Talk about service this is great. here is a copy of the e-mail i got from them.

George,
Only Proto locomotives that were equipped with the "584408" geared axle are prone to splitting. These axles would split whether the locomotive was ever run or not, usually right out of the box; however, axles that did not split will not split in the future. This is primarily a problem with the earlier issued locomotives using this axle; the axle has been re-engineered and newer issued locomotives using this axle do not have the problem. The following locomotives are the "only" locomotives afflicted with this problem: BL's, E8's, F3's, FA1 & FA2, GP's - 7, 9-II, 9-III, 18, 20, 30 and 60. Only the axles that have split, 584408, for these locomotives are being replaced for free as a warranty replacement. No other Proto locomotive is afflicted with this problem. Let me know how many axles are split, include your mailing address, and I will ship you the replacements.
Sincerely,
Larry T

I got the same kind of service when I called them about missing decals in the Medusa Cement kit. I called them, told them about the glitch and within a week I had the decals in hand. Guess that's one of many reasons that they're number 1 in the hobby to get things from.

Thumbs up RE-walthers

Just the other day I had bought a Life like/Walthers HO Scale Supply House Kit #1398. I did purchase it thru ebay and it was brand new in the box. When I decided to start working on it the following morning I started to pull parts out and going thru them and noticed that there was pieces missing. So first I contacted Walthers via email. Of course being anxious to get this matter settled I decided to call. I spoke to a Rep. and was taken care of immediately without any hestation what so ever. I did call them from work, mean while 8 hrs later when I got home there was an email from Larry T from walthers and he stated that he would send me the parts at no additional charge. I should recieve them in the next 7-10 days. At first I was going to send it back to the seller from ebay, but It wasnt his fault, he didnt know. I did contact the seller just to let him know and still left positive feed back in his profile!
