Adding weight to open cars
OK, I'm a little stressed, so bear with me here. Been working on an AHM open gondola car tonight, to bring it up to standards with my better cars. I haven't bothered with fussing with my sub-performers with their talgo trucks and under-weight bodies for decades, but now's the time.
I'm pulling them apart and adding decent trucks from Athearn to start, and adding Kadee couplers. Weight is the issue--how do YOU hide the added lead weight? I'm looking at gluing some lead split-shot sinkers on the underside, but I need to add, like 2 ounces! There ain't hardly room for that much unless I want the underside to be almost exclusively little, round, lead shot!
So? What do you guys do to add and disguise added weight? Any and all ideas welcome and considered.
There are no wrong answers, you will NOT be tested on this, and nothing goes on yer permanent record, so please feel free!
