Hey guy,s
I thought I would start a thread called freight car of the week, every weekend I try and build one car,so I thought that if everyone built, or took a car of the shelf and posted a picture with a short description folks would be able to see all the different cars there were out there and maybe see one they would like. It can be any freight car box, gon, flat, tanker, mow whatever, as long as it is a piece of rolling stock. So here we go car of the week this week!
this is an Accurail kit #4718, A Kansas City Southern 40' wood stock car with metal braces and ends. The build date is June 1941

Good ones, guys! This is a great idea, Andy! I'm liking it, I am!
I used be near the L&N when I was down at Ft. Knox. L&N had a poor reputation for being a hard-luck road. They had a bunch of derailments, IIRC, when I was in Kentucky. Word I heard was L&N management deferred a wee bit too much maintenance on it's road bed to be safe. I remember seeing with my own eyes a few coal hoppers lying on their sides with massive spilled loads on the ground on the post of Ft. Know proper, I kid you not. Took a while to clean 'em up, too, as I recall. Even after the cars were righted, the spilled coal was on the ground for a very long time.
I guess all that's behind them now, 'cause I understand L&N is part of CSX Corp, isn't it? Gobbled-up by Seaboard Coast Lines and then CSX, right?
another good job TM, thanks for sharing. everyone else you got 6 days left to get one on for this week, How 'bout you TD?
