Just finished adding a rotary brush onto my leaf blowing car. Works pretty darn good. Now just need to wait for more leaves and nuts from my chestnut tree to fall for a through testing. Ya, I know, the fan is pointed the wrong direction. It has louvers on the front that are pointed downward, so all is ok. I had to point it up so the air did not get blocked by the brush assembly.

While watching TV, I saw a commercial for a trade school. The person that was giving a testamonial for the school was shown walking around a rail yard with his sons. The locomotives that were featured were painted in a blue and white livery with EEO on the side of the long hood and on the nose. The number of the loco that could be seen was # 420. I googled the name but nada. Anybody have a clue, or was it a photoshop deal for the advertisement? Gerry S.

Wiring the Kato double crossover is an easy project. You must first remember that each side of the double crossover is electrically isolated. To get the double crossover to work properly you must drop a set of feeders from each leg of the double crossover to your common bus lines.

You'll need a total of four pairs of feeders to get this double crossover to function properly.

To wire a #6 or #4 turnout you must drop a set of feeders to each leg of the crossover. That means you need three sets of feeders to get the turnout to work properly.

To wire a 30 degree crossover or 90 degree crossover you need four sets of feeders, one set of feeders for each arm of the crossover.

If each of these tracks are wired as above, your locomotives will not stall passing through these units.

All the feeders must be dropped to common bus lines.

Posted this here as well as "N" scale, because I thought more scenery "pros" might see it...........

I am using "Unitrack" on my layout.....(that really doesn't relate to my question, except to give the "Unitrack" guys a mental picture)

I have drilled holes next to my turnouts to feed my control wires through the ceiling tile/foam/plywood that makes up the top of benchwork........

What I am looking for is a putty/modeling clay that will NOT harden, OR damage wire insulation and can be removed if maintenance or relocation is ever needed, to fill in holes & cover wires.( being able to paint it would be a plus ).
( caulk first came to mind, but that's a bit tenacious & permanent).
Any artists out there????

So while the development of how to get my pair of Columbians built is underway, I wanted to get working on a new project. My new project is the coal tipple for the Drum coal mine on the layout. I'm gonna try and eyeball this one, since I don't have an N scale ruler yet. I'm working on that one.

Structure will be mostly made from wood, with a corrugated metal roof on it, and a few plastic or metal details added to it. Should be lots of fun.

Just let y'all know I haven't just disappeared... A couple of months ago I took a couple of test loads of chemicals to Vernal, UT. The customer not only decided to continue using the product, they also requested that I remain on the account. So... I have been on the road almost constantly since June. Its a 5-day round trip, I have 1 or 2 days off then I'm back on the road. I also fill in on the Tulsa turn-around - an overniter - a couple of times a month. So very busy in the truck.

On the home front, we've been refurnishing and redecorating our apartment, which means a never ending "honey-do" list... and last but not least, the Beetlebug gave out on me a couple of MONTHS ago... starter... just haven't had time to fool with it. I've got the starter just waiting for a nice cool day off to get out there and get it going again.

All in all that leaves very little time for the model workbench or anything else.

As for the NRLCo., we're sort of on hiatus until I start getting a little more hometime. I am re-evaluating my plans for the layout. I did spend a couple of weeks investigating the On30 phenomena. It does seem to be about the hottest topic on most of the forums, but I decided that it wasn't for me, so we're still into the HO deal.

I am (again...) seriously considering using the B.T.S. McCabe Lumber Co. series of structures for the layout. I've enjoyed the scratch/bashing I've done, but I'm still attracted by the level of detail in the BTS kits. The major factor is COST - they're not cheap to say the least - but they sure do look nice. I have built a couple of their smaller kits - sawdust shed and dry kiln - and really like the way they go together and look. And although they are based on a West Virginia prototype, they are very similar to several East Texas mills. Another positive factor is that since I am concentrating on the lumber mill and rail facility that needs to fit into space available - like 32" x 12' - I won't have a lot of other structures, scenery, trackwork to do - or buy...

We're still several months away from actually putting up any benchwork or laying any track. After deciding to put the structure building on hold, I'm going to try to get a few pieces of rolling stock done while I decide what to do about the BTS kits.

So folks, that's about it from the Pineywoods. The Whistle Post is a great forum, with excellent modelers and fine folks!
Thanks Everyone!
