Question about plans.

Hello all. I am about to start on a new adventure. Since my G scale layout is indefinitely on hold, I'm going to try my hand at N scale, & HO, but first is N. I want to scratch build most of my buildings, at least to start, but I don't know what dimensions to use., i.e.-door heights, wall heights, etc. I've seen where some of you guys use paper templates to layout out your building materials on & wondered if there is a place to download this kind of thing for full size templates. Or could you give some basic dimensions so that I can design my own structures? I guess it would help if I knew what ratio to use for converting prototype (1:1) plans. Any help would be MUCHO appreciated! Thanks in advance.

So, does anyone here have any plans that they can email? Just one or two? I'd really like to do a small freight station & a factory/warehouse. N &/or HO.
Thanks
