question
OK you easterner tell me how far a CSX would travel west today and what other company would use then. Like would santa Fe use a CSX engine in a multi lash up

now this is not a test I'm just trying to get some information.

This is what I found by going on the CSX website. It's a system map, and it looks like they have several lines endiing out in Illinois (as well as other States).
I'm thinking a BNSF/ ATSF connection works for a transcontinental power run through, especially on a unit train.

EASTERN ROAD. I looked at that map I seen that CSX go's to chicago and I know that BNSF come's out of there but theres no saying that BNSF uses there engine to go west.but thanks for the information.

In this day and age I wouldn't be surprised to see CSX engines on any major road. There is a site called railpictures.net that has a simple search criteria.
I entered CSX and Washington state. Got several hits from 2004 and 2005 from what looked like BNSF country.

I believe the question you are asking is about power sharing among the class 1's? I think all the class 1's have a pool of power in which they draw from and some may owe and others have excess.
As far as ATSF using CSX power, sure. In fact heres a pic of 2 sd70m demos, csx purchases, working in Cali:

Yea i think they all run on each others roads now a days. I have even see some Soo engine setting in the CSX yard here in manchester GA. To bad i did not have a camera to get pic's of it.
