Cool In Praise of Bachmann

Way back in ancient history Bachmann introduced their version of the GE B23-7 in HO scale. This has to have been at least the very early 1990s.So that's a minimum of 15 years at least.

Anyway over the ensuing years I have managed to lose some of the railings (the ol gal has been in and out of storage alot since 1997) Anyway about a month ago I emailed them to inquire about buying some railings for it.Today I got an envelope from Bachmann with a complete set of railings and an envoice marked very clearly "NO CHARGE".

I think this action speaks very clearly of thier customer commitment and will keep me buying their product.

I've got one of their early 4-8-4 northerns in ATSF paint and was gonna send it to them, but ran across a spectrum driven northern and just changed the driveline and it works great. Had to modify the engine-tender connection a bit, but it works great.
I've yet to deal with their repair/replacement service. Anyone here have?

Who would have believed you if you had told them 20-25 years ago that Bachmann would one day be making the quality of equiptment they do today?
They also are very willing to take a chance on something, a good friend of mine , who knows some Bachmann execs., took one of their Shays & rebuilt it into an 0N30 Loco-- when the Exec saw it they decided to produce it --thats where the ON30 Shay came from!

Love the Bachmann's

I have to agree, they make some great locos! I have one of those B23's, it's nice to know you can still get parts for the thing! I had a GP-35 survive a flood. After it dried out, the thing still ran. If there is a complaint, it seems sometimes I get a vibration/sound that I can't seem to track down, except it in the trucks. My 44 Tonner (two motor) is a finicky thing...
The old Bachmann Plus were great, and my six axle Spectrum locos are just totally reliable at staying on track. Lots of detail, with separate grab irons, and the guys in the cabs, it just takes a little "lipstick" to bring them up to par!
