Beins I registered and have made a couple of posts, I guess I should introduce myself. I'm Len and live in East Texas - you can check my Public Profile for more details. I'm in the trucking business, but as I get a little older (well maybe a LOT older...) I find I have a little more "at home" time on my hands. I've been a "train chaser" since I was a kid (1950's) and dabbled in model railroading many years ago. The wife and I still love to ride 'em.
While moving last year and cleaning out the old storage shed, I ran across a box of HO model RR stuff - including about a dozen or so Roundhouse cars kits. The first instinct was to put them up on ebay, but the more I looked at them, the more I thought of doing something with them. So a couple of Google searches and I was hooked... and after several months of searching, researching and lurking, I ended up here!
So I'm still in the learning stage - finding out what other folks are doing, what's out there, and what's changed and what hasn't - its amazing how many products are still around after 30 years! Anyway, thanks to the Admins & Moderators for providing a nice forum and thanks to all who have welcomed me.

Hi Len and Welcome to The Whistle Post, Glad ya founds us, there is a great group of guys on here and were all ready to answer any questions ya might have or just chat. All ya have to do is kick of yer shoes and stay a wile lol.
Also what Era and railroads do you like or think about Modeling?
Again Welcome!
once again Len. Seeing your user name & being from the Pineywoods I can smell the sawdust now. You along with all of us are presently in the most advanced with the most opportunities ever available in the world of model RR. Think about what era, location, & RR you want to model. Don't be shy to ask questions. I recently well 9 years ago got back into model RR after buying our son his first train set. I was amazed how advanced it had gotten. It is so much fun & the sky is your limit. I know you have picked the best train forum out there. A lot of great modelers on every level just can't wait to help. Just let us know when you need help. Glad to have you aboard.

again to TWP, Len! While you're here, don't fret over asking anything train-related, as we have modelers of all skill levels running around the place! So don't be shy, and when you get around to it, why not share some pictures of your work?? You will get some good feedback if you do.
Keep on trucking!!

My modeling interests revolve around the East Texas lumber industry set in the late 1920's to early 1930's. My academic background is in Texas History and while I was in grad school in '91-'92 I worked as an exhibit technician at the Texas Forestry Museum in Lufkin. If you wonder why I'm in the trucking business its 'cause I was goin' broke teaching history...
Just got started with a couple of scratch/bash projects but no layout. I'll try to post some stuff as I get on with them.
Again, thanks for the welcome and my compliments to all the fine modeling work I've seen posted on The Whistle Post!
