Even after much forethought and careful planning, I still ended up with a corner on my layout that was nearly impossible to reach comfortably. I had to paint the benchwork there standing on a chair, one hand on the wall, and a 12" paintbrush in the other hand! Though it's probably not a new idea, it occurred to me that if I cut a piece of foam the size of the area I wanted to scenic, I could do it comfortably at the kitchen table and then (with one hand
) install the finished scene on the layout. The pictures tell the story.
